Ponca High School to Offer Dual Credit College Algebra and Pre-Calculus

Wayne State College Math Credit

Ponca High School is proud to announce their partnership with Wayne State College to offer two math courses that students may earn both high school credit and college credit starting in the 2021-2022 school year. Mrs. Sadie Voss will be teaching the dual credit courses including MAT 121 College Algebra and MAT 131 Pre-Calculus.

In order to teach dual credit courses, a teacher must have a Master’s Degree in the content area to be taught. They must also be accepted to teach for the postsecondary institution by the department head of each institution. Mrs. Voss has met these requirements, and the students of Ponca High School who are Juniors or Seniors may take these courses. The cost per credit hour for each dual credit course is $49 which is a reduced rate for high school students. There is a $15 first-time matriculation fee. Students must qualify academically to have the opportunity to take the course(s), and these standards are set by the college.

Please contact Mrs. Kristie Hayes at 402-755-5701 if you have a Junior or Senior child interested in this dual credit option.
