Americanism Essay Contest Winners!

Americanism Essay recognition awards were given to students in grades 3-6 at Ponca Public School on Friday, April 24, 2015, by Jane Dillon, president of the Jackson American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary.

Students in third through sixth grade were invited by the Jackson Legion to write an original Americanism Essay for the Legion Auxiliary’s annual contest. The 2015 essay theme was: “What Does Freedom Mean To My Family?”.  Essays were judged with first, second and third place awards given in three classes.  The following students received a certificate and monetary award:

Class I: Third Grade- 1^st place: Lily Korth, 2^nd place: Peighton James, 3^rd place: Dylan Kastning

Class I: Fourth Grade-1^st place: Abbie Hrouda, 2^nd place: Cole Jackson, 3^rd place: Ellie McAfee

Class II:  Fifth Grade- 1st place: Taylor Korth, 2^nd place: Mackenzie Schram, 3^rd place: Matthew Lentz

Class II: Sixth Grade- 1^st. place: Caden Schram, 2^nd place: McKenzie Kneifl,  3^rd place: Kaden Fields

Class VI: Special Needs Students:   1^st place: Nate Coffman, 2^nd place: Jackson Stroud, 3^rd place: Ava Fontenot

The following essays will be judged at the state level:  Class I (3^rd-4th grade)-Lily Korth,  Class II (5^th-6^th grade)-Caden Schram.

 First place winners each received five dollars, second place winners received three dollars, and third place winners received two dollars as awards.
