The Transition Team (formed by the Ponca and Newcastle School Boards to help with the Cooperative Partnership for 2012 -2013 Extra – Curricular Activities) has set the final agenda for a Public Information Meeting which will explain the details of the Cooperative Partnership between the two schools. Students, parents, staff members and community members of both districts are encouraged to attend this public meeting on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at 7:00 P.M. at Ponca School. March, students in Grades 3-6 undertook a Reading Challenge to read 100,000 minutes before the end of April. Students kept a weekly record of the minutes they read and those minutes were compiled on the computer each week. On April 27th, the students reached their goal. The reward? Mr. Hayes agreed to allow a blindfolded student to apply make-up to his face. Joel Albrecht's name was chosen to do the honors of applying the make-up. Stockton Schroeder was his assistant. Ponca, NE - As a joint venture with Serve Nebraska and Stand for the Silent, Ponca School joined schools across the state of Nebraska in a balloon release used to promote and reinforce anti-bullying practices. The statewide balloon release was actually April 20, 2012. Because of a district music competition in which so many Ponca students were involved, Ponca School held the balloon release on Wed., May 2, 2012, at 2:20 PM in Jackson and 2:45 PM in Ponca.
