The third graders wrapped up their social studies unit on local government by interviewing Mayor DJ Smith! Mr. Smith talked to us about his duties, safety, budgeting, laws, working with others, being a good citizen, and what makes our community great. We all enjoyed muffins and juice after.

We are officially kicking off our Class of 2026 Senior Spotlights!
With a smaller (but mighty!) senior class this year, we’ll be featuring a few seniors each week as we count down to graduation.
We can’t wait to highlight their accomplishments, memories, plans for the future, and everything that makes this group so special.
🎓Meet Jaeden Hughes 🎓
The girls basketball season may have ended with a 34-48 loss to undefeated Elkhorn Valley (25-0), but make no mistake — our girls left everything on that court tonight.
They didn’t just show up… they competed.
They believed.
They proved they belonged.
Up 15-13 after the first quarter.
Leading 21-20 at halftime.
And trailing by just three with under four minutes to play against a 25-0 team.
That’s heart. That’s toughness. That’s pride.
Elkhorn Valley hit a few big shots down the stretch, but this group has absolutely nothing to hang their heads about. They battled possession after possession and represented our school with grit, composure, and class.
And a special shoutout to our lone senior, Emerson Ehlers.
Emerson, your leadership, steadiness, and commitment to this program have not gone unnoticed. Being the only senior comes with a unique weight — and you carried it with strength. You set the tone, you modeled resilience, and you poured into this team every single day. Your impact goes far beyond the stat sheet. Thank you for the way you’ve represented Ponca basketball.
This team’s record doesn’t tell their story. Their fight does.

As the 2025–2026 wrestling season came to a close yesterday, we want to recognize two seniors who have meant so much to our program — Riley Swick and Charlie Watkins.
Your commitment to this team has gone far beyond wins and losses. You showed up day after day, put in the work when no one was watching, pushed through the tough practices, and represented our school with pride. Your leadership, resilience, and steady presence helped shape the culture of this program in ways that statistics will never fully capture.
You have set the standard for what it means to compete with heart, support your teammates, and lead by example. The younger wrestlers have had incredible role models to look up to because of you.
Thank you for the time, the effort, and the pride you poured into Ponca Wrestling. You will be missed on the mat, in the room, and in the halls — but your impact will continue long after this season.

Spanish I and II students joined schools across Nebraska to celebrate World Language Week! Students engaged in a variety of live and on-demand activities, played interactive games, completed surveys, and listened to guest speakers from Nebraska colleges who shared insights about world languages and future opportunities.
