Congratulations Breanna Gill!
NSAA Student Advisory Committee
Breanna has been selected to serve on the 2018-2019 Nebraska School Activities Association Student Advisory Committee. In order to serve the student must be a junior during the 2018-2019 school year. The Student Advisory Committee is a diverse group of students who participate in interscholastic athletics/activities and are focused on providing education and leadership through open and honest communication with all member schools and their students, administrators and coaches. This committee serves as a liaison between students, administrators, the NSAA Staff and Board of Directors. The Student Advisory Committee helps to promote the mission of the NSAA, including leadership, sportsmanship and integrity.
The Student Advisory Committee for the 2017-18 school year was selected in March of 2017. Due to the number of outstanding applicants (81), they were given permission to increase the number selected from six to eight. The 2017-18 school year will had six senior and eight junior representatives. The juniors will serve their second year as seniors and the junior/senior ratio will be evened out with the eight new members. This will increase the committee to eight juniors and eight seniors for the 2018-19 school year. These students were selected from the Nebraska’s six districts. The selection process was focused on gender, school class, student population, and minority representation. Duties and Responsibilities: The Student Advisory Committee (SAC) will discuss current student and Association issues, assist with various Association functions, and help to maintain an avenue of communication between the Association and the student participants themselves. Avenues to accomplish this goal will be:
- Committee members can give student perspective on proposed by-law changes.
- Students can provide input, help develop and attend the sportsmanship and leadership summits in conjunction with the NCA (Nebraska Coaches Association).
- Students can record public service announcements (PSAs), through a media partner chosen by the NSAA.
Breanna is the daughter of Lindy and Bernie Gill. Congratulations Breanna, we know you will represent Northeast Nebraska well.
