Spelling Bee 2018
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Ponca Spelling Bee took place on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in the Fine Arts Performance Center. 21 students in grades 5th-8th grade participated in the event. Mr. John Street served as the pronouncer. Mr. Hayes, Mr. Lahm, and Mrs. Webb served as the judges. Bailey Paden, a 7th grader, was the winner of the spelling bee. His correct spelling in the final round of “ricochet” and “Methuselah” earned him 1st place in the event.
Five students and one alternate travelled to Allen Consolidated Schools on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. to participate in the Dixon County Spelling Bee. These students were Bailey Paden, Lucas Hoesing, Tucker McGill, Brailyn Yellowbank, Lexi Swick, and Treston Pulley.
Lucas Hoesing (8th grade) earned third place and Bailey Paden (7th grade) earned fifth place at the Dixon County Spelling Bee. Thank you to Allen Consolidated Schools and Superintendent Mike Pattee for hosting the spelling bee this year, and congratulations to Lucas and Bailey and all of our Ponca contestants for their accomplishments.
