VII. Currently in Title I
Most Title I students visit the Title I classroom once a day; 25
minutes for reading students, 15 for math students.
At the beginning of the school year, a plan was developed for each
student that included strengths, weaknesses, and interests. These
were shared with the parents and classroom teacher.
Curriculum for reading includes the five areas of reading targeted
be No Child Left Behind; Phonemes, Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency,
and Comprehension. Also specific skill areas needed in word
recognition and comprehension are worked on.
Math instruction includes work with basic facts, numeration,
addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, problem
solving, time, and money.
Along with more one-on-one teacher/student interaction, computers,
games, and different techniques are used than in the regular
classroom to support the same skills.
The home project for 2008-2009 is "Go Bananas For Reading and
Math!" Reading students, along with their parents, take on the
challenge of reading 50 books by the end of the school year. Math
students complete 50 Daily Cumulative Reviews (DCR’s) with a 90% or
above to meet their goal.
A parent/student activity is planned for January.
