We didn't bring home any medals but these young men sure made me
proud and Ponca proud. They gave their best in each match,
they were the ultimate in showing sportsmanship and represented the
school with Honor. They were easy to oversee at the hotel,
getting to bed by curfew, getting up and ready on time, and even
cleaned their rooms at checkout time. That's how the whole team has
been. That's so important for me, to be able to trust and count on
my wrestlers to behave in a professional manner. I wouldn't trade
that for anything.
I want to thank all of those who supported us through-out the
season. Parent's, Relative's, PHS, Cheerleaders, Booster's,
BDC, Brad Krohn, Bob Kniefl and others. If you didn't make it to a
Regular season meet, Districts or State your missing alot of hard
fought action. We continue to invite you to these events to watch
how well these young men represent Ponca. It'd be nice to get the
Ponca crowd to rival the crowds of Howells, Randolph,
Neligh-Oakdale and other in our district.
Now the offseason begins, even with the wrestlers competing in
other sports, they must continue to get mat time, lift and run to
stay in shape, gaining an edge for next season. Most if not all of
this years team will attend wrestling camps/ clinics this spring
and summer. Many will also help coach the PWC wrestlers.
For the future PHS wrestlers, Feb and March is their season.
Ponca Wrestling Club for K-8 has Started Practices on Tuesdays and
Thursdays at the Comm. Ctr from 6:30-7:30pm (Use south door). This
year we have veteran/retired Coach Richard Tunney helping out. Come
join us to see what its all about.
